International development NGO | ~120 staff | Abuja, Nigeria.
THE CHALLENGE
The organisation was operating across four field offices in Nigeria with no standardised IT setup between locations. Staff were using a mix of personal and organisational devices without any security controls, beneficiary data was stored on local hard drives with no backup, and the Abuja headquarters had experienced two ransomware incidents in the previous year. A major institutional donor had flagged IT governance as a concern during a routine audit, putting a significant grant renewal at risk.
THE STECHAD SOLUTION
Stechad carried out an emergency IT assessment across all four offices and produced a prioritised remediation plan within two weeks. Cloud-based backups were implemented for all beneficiary data, antivirus and endpoint protection was deployed across all organisational devices, and a simple but effective data protection policy was documented and communicated to staff.
