CASE STUDIES

In High-Stakes Environments, IT Failures Is Not an Option

CLIENT BACKGROUND

Upstream oil and gas operator | ~1,200 employees | Aberdeen, United Kingdom

THE CHALLENGE

The operator had recently expanded its onshore support infrastructure and was running a hybrid environment that connected operational technology (OT) systems at extraction sites to its corporate IT network. A routine security assessment had identified twelve critical vulnerabilities across the OT-IT boundary — none of which the existing IT team had the specialist skills to address. The business had six weeks before a scheduled regulatory audit.

THE STECHAD SOLUTION

Stechad deployed two senior cybersecurity engineers with OT environment experience. Working alongside the internal IT team, they conducted a full OT-IT security assessment, segmented the network to isolate critical operational systems, implemented monitoring at the OT boundary, and patched or mitigated all twelve identified vulnerabilities. A security policy framework aligned to IEC 62443 was also documented and handed over ahead of the audit.

THE OUTCOME

Vulnerabilities resolved pre-audit
1 /12
Delivered within tight deadline
1 weeks
Audit findings raised

"The audit came and went without a single major finding. Stechad's engineers knew exactly what regulators were looking for and made sure we were ready."
